Rajni’s Mappillai in his own movie

  • IndiaGlitz, [Wednesday,July 22 2009]

Superstar Rajinikanth will now recall his ‘Mappillai’ days through his son-in-law. Wondering where this is heading to? Well, Dhanush the son-in-law of the superstar has bagged the memorable role of ‘Mappillai’ played by Rajinikanth himself. The remake is going to be directed by ‘Padikkadhavan’ fame Suraaj and will be produced by V Hitesh Jhabak.

The movie was one of the superhit classics starring Rajinikanth, Amala and Sri Vidhya. It featured humorous clash between simple son-in-law versus rich and proud mother-in-law, played by the Superstar and Sri Vidhya.

Though the makers are deciding upon the leading lady and mother-in-law character, Vivek will be doing the comic parts. A. Venkatesh handles the camera whereas Mani Sharma will look after the music scores.

The new ‘Mappillai’ will have a contemporary approach, in tune with the new generation and won’t be an exact replica of the original. The movie is said to be based on an extravaganza budget by the Jhabak Films, most expensive till now. Besides this, ‘Pokkisham’ and ‘Naan Avan Illai 2’ are the next highly expected projects by the productions.

‘Mappillai’ is expected to be out in April.
